  1. Thank you so much! I am vegan and it is so hard to find a vegan gravy recipe which actually works, tried this out for thanksgiving and my family loved it. I will definitely make this again for Christmas!

  2. Nora, once again you made our cooking life so much easier! Thank you! This simple gravy is by far the best we have had. I made it for the first time tonight and had to try it. We dipped some 7 grain bread from New Seasons and – wow – instant delish snack. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow on the potatoes and vegan meat loaf, it will be amazing!

  3. Hi, l can’t wait to make this for Christmas lunch. I can’t get the stock you recommend in time. Could I just use vegetable stock cubes. Thanks

    1. Thank you for sharing your wonderful review on my gravy! I’m glad you love it, and that it was wonderful for your Thanksgiving feast! Happy cooking!

  9. This really was great! I left out the soy sauce because I used Vegetable Better Than Bullion which is already pretty salty (and the mustard because I didn’t have any) and subbed garlic powder for onion because that’s what I had. It usually drives me NUTS when someone says “I made this recipe but I really didn’t because I made 20 substitutions…” but my point here is that the broth/flour/nutritional yeast ratio is perfect and I think you should be able to season in accordance to preference from there. My meat-eating husband enjoyed it too.

    1. Hi Vikki. That’s a great thing about this recipe, that it is definitely seasoning versatile for each person’s tastes! I am thrilled you guys loved the gravy and that it turned out great for you! Thank you for sharing your great review and comments!

    2. Hey Vikki.  You say it drives tou “NUTS” when people make substitutions yet out of 6 ingredients you didn’t include 50% of them?! LOL.

You are the exact type of folks that say “love the recipe but made some small adjustments” and then go on to list everything you changed which is 50%+ but then end with “love the recipe”.

      Best not commenting!

Nora- the recipe was excellent as written with no subs and no omissions.

      Have a super day!

  10. Made this today for Thanksgiving and it was so delicious! I smothered it over my mashed potatoes and Gardein holiday roast. My family loved it too. The only tweaks I made were adding garlic powder, some butter, and poultry seasoning (the kind with sage, thyme, etc.). I also used an immersion blender to get a great smooth consistency. I was a little doubtful because I usually don’t like nutritional yeast in anything, but all the flavors came together just perfectly in this gravy. Thank you!

  11. I made your gravy today knowing from all the positive reviews it was going to be good but it was way beyond what I expected! I used whole wheat flour and added a few tbls of my mushroom powder and a pinch of basil and thyme. I’m tossing all of my gravy recipes and keeping this one, it outshines all others in every way! It was so easy to make, it looks bright and beautiful, and the flavor is just perfect. We were crazy about it!

    1. I am thrilled that the gravy was a hit for you and will be your go to gravy! Thank you for taking time to share your fantastic review and comments!

  12. This was amazing! I didn’t have high hopes, and I’m glad I was wrong. Just as easy as you said it would be, and just as delicious.

  13. Made this for my picky vegan granddaughter for Thanksgiving. I hope she likes it. Both my husband and I thought it was good.

  14. Just want to say I love love LOVE this recipe before I leave a comment. It’s always my go to.
I tried replacing the soy sauce with mushroom seasoning (I kept hearing about it on YouTube) and this was NEXT LEVEL. If you have it, try it.

Love all your recipes Nora! I can always count on your recipes when I’m feeding other people who aren’t vegan and I’m not worried about any negative feedback.

    1. Hi Becky. Your words mean so much to me! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review and comments! Happy holiday cooking!

    1. You can make it ahead of time. When you get ready to serve it, heat it up and whisk it well to get rid of any clumps. You may need to add a little water to get the consistency just right and pourable as well.
