  1. Thank you! I’m WFPBNO and this complies (subbing coconut amino acids for soy sauce). Being a huge starchivore, this really compliments my rices, grains, and potatoes. So tasty too! Thank you again!!

  2. So I just made this. absolutely YUM. It clumped a bit but will work on that as I did mashed parsnip and rutabaga and will be really good with this. A WINNER for sure

  3. I made this recipe for dinner today and my husband won’t stop talking about how amazing it is. I am super excited that I finally found a great, easy vegan gravy recipe. We get tired of having to skip the gravy at special dinners and now we won’t have to. Thank you so so much for posting!

  4. Loved this recipe..thank you for sharing!! Tried it first on Txgiving, and it was so Quick, easy and yummy, have made it numerous times since. Ingredients you most likely have on hand and literally takes only a few minutes..which is why I was able to throw it together after an entire vegan meal was ready and waiting..great finishing touch. thanks again!

  5. Thankyou, finally a gravy that is quick and easy as well as tasty. Most vegan gravy recipes are ridiculously time consuming.

  6. A direct quote from my husband after I made this gravy, “You really delivered. I asked for gravy and you made me the best gravy I’ve ever had.” It’s safe to say this recipe is a good one. The only change I made was adding a sprinkle of thyme. I’ve already made it twice in less than a week.

  7. I made this for our Christmas dinner today! Gardein turkey cutlets green beans mash potatoes Watergate salad and of course the gravy it’s amazing! Will definitely make over and over again! Thank you!

  8. I wasn’t sure about this recipe, but decided there was no big loss to try it. I did substitute buckwheat and oat flour for the regular or rice flour (to keep it gluten free and add the nutty flavor you normally get from browned flour), and it works! This recipe is a keeper, and has already been added to my recipe app!

      1. Oh! And quick note – did not have the white flour, but did have quinoa flour – used 2 Tbsps of it as a substitute :D.

  9. YUM. I used just half of the nutritional yeast. This is some really delicious gravy! It’s going into my collection of favorites. Thank you for sharing!

  10. This was so good I made it twice! Growing up my mom always put a little red wine in her gravy, so I added 2 tablespoons of a bottle of pinot noir I had in my fridge which was so good! Also added garlic powder and subbed one cup mushroom stock, and added 1/2 tsp of tapioca starch and some basil and thyme. So good my whole family liked it better than the other non-vegan gravy! Definitely making for Christmas too 🙂

  11. So easy thank you. I added a little marmite to give it a bit of a twang and give a bit more colour, plus a sprinkling of dried mixed herbs. I used Braggs instead of soy sauce ( 1tbsp of Braggs was a bit too salty though, my error). Because it’s nearly Christmas I added 1tbsp of Port and it tastes so Christmassy. Love it!!!!

  12. I’m soooo in love with this gravy recipe! I just added lots of garlic powder because I’m crazy about garlic but otherwise your recipe is perfection. I made it as part of my vegan feast for Thanksgiving along with your Vegan Meatloaf, Vegan Stuffing and Vegan Mashed Potatoes with Cashew Cream. I was so happy eating my vegan goodies while the rest of my family ate dairy, oil and meat filled dishes. Thank you so much for creating these delicious vegan comfort food recipes!!!

    1. Thank you so much Karen, I’m happy you enjoyed the gravy and the other recipes for Thanksgiving as well! Wonderful to hear.

  13. This is going to be my go to gravy recipe for the method. It had a flavor I couldn’t quite place though and I think it might have been the onion powder. I will use less or non next time and see. Sage and black pepper were great additions!

  14. This was delicious! I used 2 tsp vegan chicken bouillon paste with 2 cups water for the veg broth and also added a sprig of rosemary, a few sprigs of thyme and a couple leaves of sage and let is simmer to soak in the flavor. Love this recipe!
