  1. Very tasty, I liked adding peas and crispy bite sized vegan sausage. It’s great on toast or potatoes.

  2. First time success! Perfect over fresh steamed veges for a great vegan meal! Will use this from now on! Thank you!

  3. Good gravy! My husband, who fancies himself a bit of a gravy connoisseur, thought it was “really, really good”! The color isn’t ideal, but it honestly tasted so much like chicken gravy it was unreal. Thanks!

  4. Fast, easy and TASTY recipe! It’s my new go to (and happy for that because I actually never had a go to recipe before) 🙂

To give it a darker color, I added a can of cooked and drained lentils that I blended in my Vitamix. I added a bit more salt since I added a fair more amount of liquid to the recipe.

How should this be stored? Can it be frozen?

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed the gravy and it will be your “go to”! That makes me so happy. I have never tried freezing it, I usually keep the leftovers in the refrigerator and then whisk plus add a little more water to get it to a smooth consistency again. Hope that helps!

  5. This is – hands down – the best vegan gravy I’ve tried so far! What I also love is that it requires only simple ingredients and is so easy to make. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!

  6. This was SO delicious! And couldn’t be easier to make (so that’s a bonus).
I put it on a lentil-mushroom-walnut loaf and it was divine. I am so happy to have found this recipe!

  7. Delicious ! your a good cook, Ive tried a few of your recipes without realizing at first that they are yours. I guess im liking the way you cook, thanks

  8. Excellent base for a gravy! I added some garlic, thyme, and rosemary for a bit more flavour and then it was perfect! Thanks so much and just wanted to say how much I love your recipes!!

  9. At first I was A little worried that it would taste funny as I never used nutritional yeast with soy sauce together! But Let me tell you, my family LOVED it!! It’s so easy to make, the flavor is amazing, and the texture is just perfect! Thank you for the recipe! Definitely go to recipe!

      1. Made this gravy today.   It was amazing!    I have been struggling to find a great vegan gravy.  Not any more this one is a keeper.   Thank you

  10. I am a gravy SNOB….this blew my mind.  Mine was dark brown, I think because of the veggie broth I used.  Flavor is soooo good!  I added pepper.  I will make this all the time!!!

  11. LOVE IT, JUST MADE IT, ILL NEVER BY BAGGED GRAVY OR JAR AGAIN, THANKS (will be trying some of your other recipes)

  12. I gave it a 5 but 2 others said 4. The ONLY thing they were bothered about was it’s colour – being yellowish instead of brown.
    Any tips/tricks please? xx

    1. That’s funny, I love the color because it reminds me of canned gravy I used to eat at Thanksgiving pre-vegan. 🙂 Do you want it to be dark in color? I’m really not sure how to make that happen here, unless you have darker vegetable broth or something.

    2. There’s a product called Gravy Master that is available in the condiment aisle of most grocery stores. It adds a brown color, and just a bit of flavor. I learned about the product from a vegan chef. Hope this helps!

  13. This is a revelation!!

Gravy is something I’ve really missed since eating plant based, but this beats the ‘real’ thing!

So quick and simple!! Thank you 🙂

    1. Do you think yellow mustard would work as a replacement for dijon? I don’t like dijon and would not use it for anything else so it would be a waste.

  14. This is so good!!! My husband prefers it over the very long winded recipe I normally make, so bonus!!

I did add way less nutritional yeast because he really hates it, but what a great recipe, so easy, so quick. This is all I use now!!

  15. Oh my Lord this was delicious!!! Might seriously prefer it to regular gravy. It thickened right up and had a wonderful taste. Put it on some lentil loaf and it was ah-mazing.

  16. The gravy had great flavor and very easy to make. I wasn’t crazy about consistency of the mixture. Not sure if it was the nutritional yeast or the flour. I will stick with it and see if I can work the kinks out…

    1. If it was a little chunky, use a whisk to really get it smooth, or even an immersion blender to make it really smooth. Hope that helps!

  17. I’ve made this gravy several times now, and it’s truly delish! I’ve had it on mashed potatoes, with Tofurky roast, and today with homemade vegan fried chikn nuggets. I could just drink it, seriously! Thanks for a great recipe!

  18. My husband just made this gravy and said “WOW”, he made it exactly as the recipe calls and added a tad bit of pepper. It was amazing and super easy!
